Robert Guthrie essay, 1997

An essay, "BMOC at I.I.T.," by by Robert Guthrie (B.S., Mechanical Engineering, 1949) for his grandson Scott Guthrie, recounting his student days at Illinois Institute of Technology from 1942-1949, with time off for service in World War II, 1943-46. (25 pages.) Guthrie recounts his academic and social activities at IIT, commenting on various professors such as Yale Brozen, C. Roy Mathews, Michael Sadowsky, and Edward Wagenknecht. He also writes aout his extra-curricular clubs (Triangle Club, Black Knight) and social activities, which included activities with fellow students Leo Schmidt, Jean Borke, Edward Adolphson, Robert Amstutz, Howard Baum, Kenneth Thompson, and Dorothy Duerr. Also, a photocopy of The Differential for January 1949 (18 pp.), of which Guthrie writes "the January 1949 graduating class put together for our 'Senior Farewell Dance' as a tongue-in-cheek version of The Integral.
