Stagg, Jr./Coach" The other ca. 11 7/8" l. x 1½" d. reads: "Armour Tech/Des Moines, Iowa/April 25 1931/A. H. Jens/Drake Relays Baton" and is black and white

Biographical Note

Armour Institute of Technology (opened 1892) was one of two Chicago colleges which merged in 1940 (the other college was Lewis Institute) to create Illinois Institute of Technology. It was founded by the Armour family, of Armour Meatpacking and was located on the near south side of Chicago.
