Mary Jane King collection, 1948-1971

Materials collected by Mary Jane King related to her academic tenure as a student at the Institute of Design, circa 1948. Includes a small amount of correspondence from the school, artwork from Norman Laliberte, and three paperback books.

It also includes typed and handwritten class notes on abstract art and lectures by R. Buckminster Fuller, ca. 1948 (2 pages).

A file of miscellaneous materials related to architecture, mostly newsclippings. Also included with this collection are five hardbound books, possibly class texts. These books include:

  1. Vision In Motion by Laszlo Moholy-Nagy. 2nd printing edition with additional and different photos. Image on front of jacket is a 1941 photogram by the author.
  2. Language of Vision by Gyorgy Kepes, 1947
  3. 1936 Alexander Calder by James Johnson Sweeney, 1943. Museum of Modern Art exhibit catalogue. Per insert in back of book, for David Spaeth/fr Mary Jane King's Library: Easter 1978.
