The Consortium for Accelerator Research (ICAR) was formed in 1999 by IIT, Northern Illinois University, Northwestern University of Chicago, and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign to ensure the best use of resources at Fermilab for research and education. ICAR is funded through the Higher Education Cooperative Act.
