Robert Bonthron, former IIT faculty member, has a long history with the university. In 1944, Bonthron graduated from IIT with a B.S. in mechanical engineering. In 1952, he graduated with an M.S. in mechanics, and in 1962, with a PhD in that same field. During his time spent at IIT, Bonthron held several positions with the university. From the years of 1947-1961, he was a member of the engineering department faculty, a member of the faculty council, a member of the discipline committee, and the assistant dean of engineering. In 1968, Bonthron accepted the role of dean of students. Bonthron retired in 1991 and is an emeritus faculty member.

Description of the Collection The collection includes video of the Golden Society Reunion Luncheon of September 22, 2012, and September 28, 2013. The 2012 luncheon was held in Hermann Hall. Copy of the second draft edition, copyright 1940, published as a softcover, spiral bound book by the Institute of General Semantics, 106 pages, printed on one side only in typescript format. The book is autographed on title page by S. I. Hayakawa with Sept. 26, 1980 date appended.
